Bangsar South is a project in Kuala Lumpur, south of the integrated development in the Pantai area — Pantai Hill Park, Kampung Pantai, and Kampung Pantai Dalam. It was made with the intention of reinventing the area called Bangsar.
Bangsar South was not always the urban metropolis that it is today; it has developed after years of hard work and the undying drive for progress. Today Bangsar South is considered synonymous with luxury.
In this article, we will take a look at how this district in Bangsar transformed itself from what it was in 2000, to what it is today.
The Beginning
The area now known as Bangsar South used to be known as Kampung Kerinchi and was simply a large rural enclave, home to several residential developments completed in the 1990s. Today this area is one of Klang Valley’s most sought-after addresses thanks to the undertaking by UOA Holdings. UOA started their work after they acquired a 60-acre (240,000 m2) piece of land there in 2005. After that, development began in full throttle in 2007 to fully upgrade the area into an exclusive commercial and residential hub. Since then Bangsar South has become an enviable and sought after piece of real estate.
The Development
Many developments have come up and helped the area thrive. Some notable ones include:
- Nexus@Bangsar South
- Connexion@Nexus
- Carmella Service Suites@Nexus
- The Village
- The Horizon Boutique Office
- The Vertical Office Tower
- The Sphere Shopping Mall
- The Park Residence
Despite these developments, the area is still filled with wide-open spaces in between buildings. There are green clumps of trees and landscaped areas, vacant land lots and broad pavements with roundabouts as well as avenues that are winding and spacious, creating a good balance between the urban and the natural.
Thanks to the developments, office blocks, towers and greenery, the value of properties here, commercial and residential, has seen much appreciation over the years. Compared to many other properties in Klang Valley, Bangsar South’s economy has remained relatively consistent.
