1. Share some of your successful accomplishments as a real estate agent at IQI.
Kimberly: I thank God for giving me this career just when I was growing tired of attending social events and parties. I was a homemaker and my youngest child was about to leave the nest for boarding school.
That was when I joined IQI at the end of 2019, and learned the ropes during the pandemic. In 2021, I was the Champion Top Performer in Subsales and recently, awarded the 2nd Runner Up Top Performer 2022 in Subsales.
2. What led you to pursue a career in real estate?
Kimberly: I got into the real estate career by chance. In 2019, I had wanted to sell my own commercial property, which I sold overnight. That was when I realized that I have the gift of selling properties.
I have always been interested in real estate, but as an investor. I invested in my first property in Bangsar, KL when I was 25 years old, after having lived in Melbourne and Japan.
3. Can you share a story about a difficult obstacle you faced in your real estate career, and how you overcame it?
Kimberly: Encountering difficult situations is part and parcel of this job. How you overcome it is what sets you apart.
I encountered a deal where the Buyer’s lawyer and Seller’s lawyer could not come to an agreement on certain conditions, and the deal could not move forward.
Normally, both Buyer’s lawyer and Seller’s lawyer would communicate directly and settle the contract issues with each other but in this case, I had to step in to see the deal through. It was very stressful but they really needed an impartial third party to help them resolve the disagreements. I am glad to have played the role of a peacemaker to help to conclude the deal.
4. How has IQI supported your professional growth and development as a real estate agent?
Kimberly: IQI provided me with support and training when I first started in 2019.
I am close to my immediate leader who provides guidance and advice whenever I encounter problems and challenges. The admin and management staff are always helpful and ever ready to assist.
With all these people behind me, I am able to focus on my role as a successful real estate agent.
5. Looking ahead to the next five years, what are some goals or aspirations you have for your career in real estate?
Kimberly: I will continue to do what I am doing right, and of course explore different things to widen my scope and build a team.
6. If you could only give one piece of advice to someone who’s just starting out in real estate, what would it be?
You have to be passionate about it.
Kimberly: Make sure that you’re not just doing it for the money. Like most jobs, the novelty will wear off.
