After two very long years, delays and uncertainties, the Malaysian border will finally be reopened as of April 1 to welcome international tourists who have completed 2 doses of vaccination to enter without quarantine; at the same time, many domestic SOPs will also be relaxed.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced on March 8 that the country will transition to an endemic stage on April 1.
At that time, Malaysia will also reopen the country and its entry and exit to public and international tourists, while implementing new SOP :
1. SOP for entry into Malaysia
-
- The MyTravelPass will be abolished and travelers who have completed 2 doses of the vaccine will be allowed to enter without quarantine.
- The polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test must be carried out 2 days before entry into Malaysia, and the rapid antigen detection reagent (RTK-Ag) test should be carried out within 24 hours after entry.
- When traveling within Malaysia, international tourists must download and activate the MySejahtera app.
2. SOP for leaving Malaysia
- All citizens with legal and verified travel documents can travel freely to countries that have opened their borders.
- Make good use of the Vaccinator Travel Lane (VTL) plan to enter countries that have not been opened (currently only Singapore has this option, but it will soon be in affect in Thailand, Brunei, and Indonesia).
3. Domestic SOP
- Regardless of vaccination status, people can move freely across states without restrictions.
- Event venues are no longer limited to 50% capacity.
- Social distancing is not required (depending on state government decisions) for religious prayers or places of worship, but masks must be worn.
- Store owners can operate according to the hours allowed by their business licenses, and people can also dine in restaurants after 12 midnight.
- There is no need to scan MySejahtera in uncrowded, non-massive outdoor venues.
- Indoor locations with high crowds still need to scan MySejahtera and force MySJ Trace on.
In any case, the virus has not completely disappeared, everyone remember to wear a mask at all times, pay attention to cleanliness, and strictly follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Health in our road to #ReopeningSafely
